ForgeStation

ForgeStation is a native local development workspace that brings projects, terminals, browser and file context, plugins, coding sessions, and model-backed work into one Windows application. Its accepted checkpoint and later continuity research are reported separately.

Overview

The clean accepted reference is the August 30, 2026 checkpoint. It records a native multi-project shell with project terminals, browser workspace and history, plugin docking and sidecars, coding-session and resume flows, accepted local- and OpenAI-model checkpoints, and multi-project terminal tabs.

The terminal path was not a one-pass integration. Several early attempts produced no child output and exposed transport and test-oracle problems before later standard-handle and higher-level validation established usable behavior.

Current system

Later development extends that checkpoint with managed project context, conversation capture, project-readable continuity records, and bounded worker handoffs:

  • Managed Project Context: compatible Codex and Astra sessions reread current project-owned context at start, resume, and compaction. An eight-run, two-project/two-provider matrix recorded no cross-project marker leakage.
  • Conversation Capture and NS MD Bridge: the local foundation records provenance, deterministic conversation identity, coordinated writers, and idempotent publication across retries; compatibility checks included NS MD Bridge.
  • Project Markdown Continuity: human-readable project records feed bounded handoffs. Supervisor reconciliation requires evidence before promoting worker claims; structured cycles covered Codex, Astra, Local Chat, and Local Coder adapters.
  • Local Coder recovery: an OpenCode-backed local Ollama/Qwen path completed exact session continuation with no silent provider fallback in the recorded dogfood.

Current limitations and ongoing work

A profile-only approach did not refresh native resumed sessions. The later SessionStart path corrected that case, but depends on compatible provider hook and metadata interfaces. Fresh project context also does not remove instructions already retained in an earlier provider transcript.

  • Arbitrary terminal turns are not structured worker cycles, and Local Chat did not have project binding at the recorded M3 milestone.
  • Managed context, capture, continuity, Local Coder, and attachment work postdate the accepted tag and have not yet been accepted as a release baseline.
  • Later full suites retained four unclassified failures. External runtime dependencies and the recorded local environment bound the current evidence.

No ForgeStation runtime media has completed item-level privacy and disclosure review. No runtime image is presented as evidence, and the unrelated Animation Studio image is not reused. Private project records, conversation bodies, local endpoints, credentials, paths, launch details, and write-coordination mechanisms remain outside this account.
